Light, form, and space – the fundamental visual elements of architecture – are also the tools of our trade. Whether the assignment is a single photograph or a multi-day, multi-site shoot, we apply a creative approach to composition and lighting that both reveals and reinforces the designer’s intentions. Understanding those intentions in-depth is critical to intelligible, visually pleasing architectural photography, so we typically recommend a pre-shoot walk-through to scout potential shots and lighting considerations. This is most easily accomplished for local sites, but travel is never a problem for us. Our work takes us from coast to coast throughout the US and abroad.

Two Photographers

Halkin | Mason Photography has two principal photographers on staff, partners Barry Halkin and Todd Mason. Whether working independently or in collaboration, both bring a unique approach to all aspects of image making. Barry and Todd use Phase One digital backs and Cambo technical cameras, the highest grade equipment on the market. On site, image captures are made tethered to laptops, allowing for careful consideration of the composition and styling of each shot. When an even greater number of images must be produced in a short period of time, both Barry and Todd are available to concurrently work a site. A two camera shoot can dramatically expand the productivity and creativity achievable in a brief time.

In-House Digital Post-Production

All of our post-production is done in-house by Adobe Photoshop certified experts, and is overseen by the principal photographer to maximize quality control and turn-around time. We maintain a complete suite of high-end digital processing equipment and up-to-date software, all of which is diligently calibrated to the strictest of industry standards.
